PRINCIPAL'S RECOMMENDATION FOR STUDENT INVOLUNTARY TRANSFER TO ALTERNATIVE SCHOOL IN LIEU OF SUSPENSION

SENT VIA REGULAR AND CERTIFIED MAIL

Dear [Parent/Guardian]:


This letter is to inform you that I am recommending to the Superintendent that [student name] be reassigned to [_______________________] for [number] school days.  My decision is based on the following:


1. [Explain the student's behavior or academic performance at issue];


2. [Provide a summary of the documented efforts you have taken to assist the student in the student's regular educational settings]; and


3. [Document the circumstances that support an involuntary transfer].


Based on the information provided above, I believe that my recommendation is in the best educational interest of your child.  The Superintendent shall notify you of a decision on my recommendation.

 SUPERINTENDENT'S DECISIONS REGARDING PRINCIPAL'S RECOMMENDATION FOR STUDENT INVOLUNTARY TRANSFER TO ALTERNATIVE SCHOOL IN LIEU OF SUSPENSION

This letter is to inform you that I have reviewed Principal [last name]'s recommendation regarding [student's name] reassignment to [_________________].  I am upholding the recommendation and [student's name] shall be reassigned, effective immediately, to [______________________] for [number] school days.  


Based on Board Policy 3470/4305- Alternative Learning Programs/Schools, you have the right to appeal my decision to the Board of Education.  You must file your written appeal with my office within five (5) calendar days receipt of this letter or the right to appeal is forfeited.
